Fort Scott

Bourbon County

The U.S. Army established Fort Scott in 1842. After the fort was abandoned, the buildings became a town in Bourbon County that was bitterly divided during Bleeding Kansas, with free-state and proslavery hotels facing each other on the old parade ground.
